Looking for Legislation from the EU? Codex Standards on canned products in Spanish? The IPFSAPH Advanced Search is designed to fine-tune your search, giving you more specific results. The results are displayed on an easy-to-read table format, providing simple access to the record information, keywords, and a link to the full text.

Getting Started

The following fields can be used to limit your search and provide more accurate results:

  • Information Type: This field is REQUIRED. You must select: Formal Text, Supporting Materials, Contacts or Institutions. This selection determines what will appear in the  Type field below. If no selection is made, the portal will default to Formal Text.  

  • Search IPFSAPH:  To use:

    • Type a descriptive word(s) or phrases in the search box.

    • Unless you specify an operator between search terms, the uppercase AND will be used by default. For more search tips, click here.

    • Select the fields you would like to search using the radio buttons: 
      [ Search:    Title and description   Only Title ]

    • If you do not make a selection, the search will default to the ''Title and description'' search which searches all the record information (not the full text).
       

  • Type (Publication Type): The selections you see in this field are customized to the Information Type selected above. This field can be useful if you would like to limit your search to a specific type of resource, e.g., Formal Text: Legislation/Regulations, or Contacts: Codex Contact Points.
     

  • Full text language: This field is used to specify the language(s) of the full text attachment. You may select, English, French, Spanish or many others; however, some languages will produce limited results.
     

  • Keywords: The next four fields can be used to specify the keywords from the defined list used to index all the records in the portal that you would like to search by. You may select one or more from each topic; however, selecting numerous keywords will limit the number of results.
     

  • Publication Date: Use this field to find results published within specific dates. This field is useful if you are looking for the most recent information.

Finally:

  1. Click on the Search button.

  2. If there are multiple results pages, click Next » at the bottom of the page, to go to the next page.

Examples

The Advanced Search does not have to be difficult. The following examples show how useful searches can be done in a limited number of steps:

Example 1:
Looking for legislation from the Chinese Government?
This search can be done in two steps
, select:

  • Information Type: Formal Texts (this is the default)

  • Type: Legislations/Regulations

  • Source keyword: China

 

Example 2:
Would you like training materials on the SPS agreement?

Make the following selections:

  • Information Type: Contacts

  • Contact Type: Codex Contact Point

  • Display the full record Click on this icon to view the record information, which contains (when available): the Title, Type of Publication, all Full Text versions, Keywords, Publication Date and Short Description.

  • Title : Title of the record.  

  • Type: Immediately following the title is the publication type, click here for more information on publication type.

  • View: This indicates in which format the full text version is available ( .pdf, .htm, .doc, etc.), the language(s) available, and provides access to the version you select.

  • Keywords: The following four columns are the keywords used to index the document: Commodity, Cross-Sectoral Issue, Geography, Information Source.
     

  • Publication Date: The date the record was published.

Organize your results:

Using the blue arrows in the header, you can sort the results by Title, Type, Geography, Information Source, or Publication Date.

Search tips

Too many results:

  • Make more restrictions. The search and keyword fields are a good place to start.

Too few results:

  • Remove some of your restrictions.

  • Also, if you are searching Formal Text, you might try switching to Supporting Materials.
