Want standards on food safety, but do not know where to start?   The unique portal design allows you to browse information by five distinct views: Commodity, Cross-Sectoral Issue, Country, Information Source, or Information Type, narrowing or refining as you go to find results that are relevant.

To get started:

  1. Choose one of the five topics:

  • Commodity : information is grouped according to the World Customs Organization's Harmonized System of commodity classification.
  • Cross-Sectoral Issue: information is categorized by cross-sectoral themes such as biotechnology, equivalence, or risk analysis.

  • Country: locate material submitted by the country itself and material submitted by other countries or standard setting bodies about the country selected.
  • Information Source: indicates the specific international organization, standard-setting body or government submitting the information.
  • Information Type: groups information by type, such as legislation and regulations, standards, scientific evaluations, and MRLs.
  1. Select a keyword.
For the example below, we have selected Biotechnology, which comes under Cross-Sectoral Issue.

  1. Click one of the three options:

    1. View ALL records:

This will retrieve all records tagged with Biotechnology. The results can then be refined by a ''free text search''.

    2. View narrower topics:

This will allow you to navigate down the hierarchy of Biotechnology, i.e., to  Genetically Modified Organisms or Living Modified Organisms.

    3. Refine with one of the topics below:

Get results that contain Biotechnology and a topic from one of the other views. For example, retrieve results for Biotechnology from the EU, legislation and regulations related to biotechnology. The results can  be refined by a ''free text search''.
